FIFA to Pay 209 Million Dollars to Club Teams with Players at 2022 World Cup

FIFA will distribute 209 million dollars (187.5 million euros) to clubs that had players at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This was announced by the world football association today. In Belgium, 18 clubs receive cents, good for 5 million euros. Club Brugge collects the most: 1.3 million euros.

Clubs do not have to see their players leave for the World Cup for free. Organizer FIFA pays millions of euros under its FIFA Club Benefits program.

For the special World Cup in Qatar – because in the winter – 440 clubs from 51 countries had to miss a total of 837 players for a month. FIFA compensates the injured clubs.

They receive a daily amount of 10,950 dollars (9,823 euros) per player, regardless of the number of minutes that player made at the World Cup. The total amount per player is divided over the club(s) for which the player played in the 2 years prior to the World Cup.

8 World Cup visitors yield Club 1.3 million euros

In Belgium, Club Brugge receives the highest amount with 1,455,495 dollars (about 1.3 million euros). That is not surprising, because Club 8 had World Cup visitors.

In addition to Red Devils Hans Vanaken and Simon Mignolet, Denis Odoi and Kamal Sowah (Ghana), Tajon Buchanan and Cyle Larin (Canada), Noa Lang (Netherlands) and Andreas Skov Olsen (Denmark) also played for their country.

Racing Genk will receive 1,013,827 dollars (910,000 euros) in second place, Standard will receive 492,769 dollars (442,000 euros) in third place.

1B club Beerschot closes the row with 15,513 dollars (14,000 euros). FIFA distributes the amounts to the Belgian Football Association (RBFA), which in turn transfers them to the clubs.
