FC Twente Women’s players Wieke Kaptein, Renate Jansen and Caitlin Dijkstra won big against Belgium with the Oranjevrouwen on Sunday evening. In the farewell match for the World Cup, the fans cheered five times: 5-0.
Elena Dhont started with the Belgians in the base, she played for more than 70 minutes. Dijkstra came on at halftime. Kaptein played for about twenty minutes and Jansen was brought in for the last minutes.
The Orange Lionesses shot off the starting blocks in Limburg. Within two minutes it was a hit for the Netherlands. Van der Gragt found Van de Donk, who in turn got the ball to Martens. The Paris Saint-Germain player then shot in. Fifteen minutes later, the ball hit the spot, after the VAR intervened due to a handball. Van der Gragt surprisingly went behind the ball, but found goalkeeper Nicky Evrard on her way.
Not long after, the Orange got a second chance from the penalty spot, this time due to a foul by Fortuna Sittard player Féli Delacauw. Spitse took the penalty and put the 2-0 on the scoreboard. Beerensteyn was then close to the third Dutch goal and two minutes later the ball went in. The striker scored a goal in a beautiful way.
Van de Donk then fell just a toe short to make it 4-0. In the second half, the pace slowed down a bit. Jonker made a large number of substitutions. Wieke Kaptein and Katja Snoeijs, among others, joined the team. After just over an hour of play, the Lionesses’ fourth goal fell. Pelova crowned her strong performance with a nice goal.
In the end, substitute Snoeijs determined the final score at 5-0. Aniek Nouwen initially headed on the bar and in the rebound Snoeijs was accurate with the head. As a result, the Orange Lionesses have a good final test in the run-up to the World Cup. For Jonker’s team, the tournament starts on July 23, with a match against Portugal.
