Ecodep Koizumi Judo Athletes Shine at European Championship, Winning Gold Medals

Scicli – The boys believed so much in it, arriving in Slovenia full of expectations and ready for the confrontation that saw 347 athletes from 31 nations compete on the tatami in the various categories.

The instructors and the entire sports association believed in it, and have always believed in it. And Ecodep believed in it, actively committed to giving Koizumi all the support necessary to transform the ambitions of a provincial reality and its talented athletes into successes and medals. And the medals arrived for Savita Russo and Vincenzo Pelligra. Two heavy medals: gold for Savita in the women’s – 63 kg category and gold for Vincenzo in the men’s – 73 kg category.

The boys, celebrated by their teammates and supporters, told us their feelings after the success achieved.

“For this competition, as for all the others, I trained diligently every day. I dedicated all my energies to judo, supported by Ecodep Koizumi Judo which gave me the opportunity to improve more and more.” says Savita Russo, who continues: “The European was a good experience, I enjoyed it. Victory is always a satisfaction, but what matters most is everything behind it.”

Vincenzo Pelligra instead recounts: “I prepared myself 100% for this race. Ecodep Koizumi Judo has always supported me in every competition and every day of training, always managing to bring out the best in me and making me feel at ease. Of course it took enormous sacrifices from me and all the people who have always supported me but the result was fantastic!”

The Sicilian champion continues: “The European Championship was a wonderful experience, full of strong emotions, which arrived after a year’s hiatus after an injury. So it was a double satisfaction. The support of the boys, of my father and above all of the physiotherapist Gianni Magro was fundamental. It is also thanks to them that I was able to give my best to reach the top step of the podium.”

The passion for this sport shines through the words and looks of these young promises who, thanks to their talent and the support of teachers and technical staff, will be able to continue on their way to more successes for Ecodep Koizumi Judo and for Italy.

Daniele Morando, Technical Manager and Commercial Director of Ecodep – a Sicilian waste disposal company for companies and partners of Koizumi Judo – is also proud of the results achieved and congratulates a reality that, from the very first meeting, has strongly involved and passionate him only for the very high sporting level but also for the profuse commitment in the promotion of the founding values ​​of the discipline and for the social commitment on the territory.

Social commitment which is one of the cornerstones of Ecodep which combines its core business, the responsible management of industrial waste for companies of all sizes, institutions and small businesses, with a whole series of initiatives in support of territorial realities and the promotion of a new raising awareness on environmental issues, which also includes support for Koizumi judo.

Vincenzo’s words explain it well: “Judo is a sport that teaches respect for oneself and for the world around us, I highly recommend it to everyone. It is one of the best educational methods and is able to help the realization of the human being, both as an athlete and as a person.”

Savita also praises the human value of her sport: “Judo is fundamental for everyone’s growth, for the principles it teaches. To become a champion you have to train, believe in yourself and trust your master.”
