Devers’ Two-Run Homer Helps Red Sox Secure 7-6 Victory over Blue Jays

(Toronto) Rafael Devers hit a two-run homer early in the game and then added a single, and the Boston Red Sox won 7-6 against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Justin Turner hit a long ball and scored a double as the Red Sox (42-42) improved to 6-0 against the Blue Jays in 2023. Masataka Yoshida also drove in a run.

Kutter Crawford (3-4) held the Blue Jays to two runs, three hits and two walks. He struck out five in five and two-thirds innings. Josh Winckowski took over.

Matt Chapman drove in two runs in the eighth inning for the Blue Jays (45-39), who were attempting a comeback.

George Springer and Bo Bichette each homered in the loss. It was Springer’s 12th home run of the season.

Turner ended the Blue Jays’ comeback hopes with a homer in the ninth inning. Turner hit a ball that ended up 378 feet into the Blue Jays bullpen.
