The Goodell Tour made the announcement on Monday, noting that the 25-year-old athlete cannot apply to be reinstated in the league until July 24, 2024.

Uwazurike is the sixth player to be suspended in connection with betting this year. In April, the NFL cracked down on Detroit Lions players Jameson Williams, Stanley Berryhill, Quintez Cephus and CJ Moore, as well as Washington Commanders representative Shaka Toney.

Williams and Berryhill received six-game penalties for betting on the outcome of college fixtures from team-owned facilities. The other three are suspended for at least the entire 2023 season because they bet on league games.

In 2022, the NFL similarly punished Calvin Ridley of the Atlanta Falcons, who bet on matches the previous year. He has since been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars and will return to action this year.
