After having participated brilliantly in the preparatory tournament for the sixth Francophone Games, the Congolese judokas, who won eleven medals, including three silver and eight bronze, were received and then congratulated by the Minister of Sports, Hugues Ngouélondélé, on July 14.
The Minister indeed appreciated the dynamism of the athletes who are returning to the international scene after eight years of absence. Hugues Ngouélondélé asked that the athletes improve their level and maintain consistency during high level competitions.
For his part, the president of the Congolese Judo Federation and associated disciplines, Me Francis Neyl Ata, said that the competition which allowed Congo to win eleven medals was organized by the International Judo Federation (IJF) and its athletes. did not fare badly. Three countries (the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo and Angola) participated in this competition.
He recalled that Congo continues to work with the IJF, in order to put a definitive end to the sanction suffered by Congolese judokas. Appointment is thus made for the Games of La Francophonie, scheduled from July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa.
