Olympic lifting in Colombia, expectations for the National Championship and the National Games 2023.

Olympian Carlos Hernán Andica Andica prepares his best elements to appear in the Senior and Under-23 National Championship of Olympic Lifting, which will take place in Chinchiná, Caldas, from July 25 to 29.

This event will serve as preparation for the locals for the XXII National Games 2023. The coffee roster will be made up of Daniela Calderón, 45 kilograms, who will compete in sub-23 and older; as well as Julieth Jiménez, at 55; Farly Vásquez, 64 kg and Carolina Sánchez, 59 kg, all older.

In the men’s category, Yóiner Jiménez and Juan Serpa, 73 kg older, will attend; Yoni Andica, who will return to competitions, in the 81 kg majors; Weimar Mera, in 81 kg over, and Juan Méndez, in 89 kg over.

The League continues in its renewal process, as demonstrated by Luis York Murillo, who in the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 National Championship, which took place in Cali, Valle del Cauca, consolidated himself as the best sub -13. In the 49 kg division, the local handled 45 kg in the snatch and 60 in the clean and jerk.

The turn will now be for the heavy. A separate chapter deserves Yoni Andica, a multiple international medalist who suffered an elbow dislocation in November 2022 in the National Senior Championship that was about to accelerate his retirement from high competition.

However, the star is already recovered and this contest will help him prove himself, lose his fear and once again show why he is one of the best in Colombia.

He combines his sporting facet with that of a strategist, since in the League he is the one who directs the minors, who listen attentively, given his extensive experience, he has a lot to teach.

This appointment will be a test game for Andica Andica, since he hopes to reach the Nationals to fight for medals, which he is used to, as one of the props on which the Andica dynasty rests, of which his older brother is a part, Carlos Hernán, who performed in 2 Olympic Games, Athens 2008 and Beijing-2008, in which he played prominent roles.

A piece of information: Carlos has been the only Quindiano who has been twice in the most important competition in the world of sports; and Yoni could have been an Olympic medalist in London-2012, but for unknown reasons he was not called up to the Colombian team. On that occasion, his marks would have allowed him to be on the podium.
