MADRID, 28 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick Step) starts as a great favorite to repeat his victory this Saturday in the 42nd edition of the Clásica de San Sebastián, in which the Spanish youngsters Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers) and Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) are the main alternatives.

The world champion dominated the last edition with a solo exhibition, but this 2023 he will find a cast of very high-level rivals, with cyclists coming from the recently completed Tour de France and others who are finalizing their preparation for the Tour of Spain, which starts on August 26 or the Glasgow World Cup on the 5th.

The 230 kilometer route, with more than 4,000 meters of positive elevation gain, in which the cyclists will face the ascents of Meaga, Iturburu, Alkiza, Jaizkibel, which was climbed in the first stages of the Tour de France, Erlaitz, Mendizorrotz and Murguil, the latter could be the judge of the race, crowned 8 kilometers from the finish line.

In addition to Ayuso and Rodríguez, other names to highlight are the current winner of the mountain jersey in the Tour, the Italian Giulio Ciccone (Lidl Trek) and his partner the Dane Mattias Skjelmose, as well as Christophe Laporte and Tiesj Benoot (Jumbo-Visma ), the Austrian Felix Gall (Citroën-Ag2r), who has just stood out in the Tour, or the Basque from Bahrain, Mikel Landa, who wants to make up for it in his ‘home’ race.
