Campus Sportdeutschland in Frankfurt: The future of top-class sport

Several halls and outdoor facilities, plus the renovation and new conception of existing areas: the “Campus Sportdeutschland” is to be created in Frankfurt. Who pays for it – and what that could mean for top-class sport.

Frankfurt is to receive the next sports campus. A year after the opening of the academy and administrative headquarters of the German Football Association (DFB) for 180 million euros on 15 hectares of the former racecourse, planning for a project called Campus Sportdeutschland begins.

With investments of 200 million euros, the federal government, the state of Hesse and the city of Frankfurt want to create a competence and training center in about ten years at the headquarters of more than twenty sports associations including the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), in which national and Olympic teams can compete can prepare – and fly to their competitions from the neighboring airport in Frankfurt.
