Caçapa (Lyon) interim coach of Botafogo (Brazil)

Former central defender and captain of Lyon, Claudio Caçapa, current assistant coach of OL, has been appointed interim coach of Brazilian club Botafogo, the French club announced on Saturday.

Caçapa, 47, linked to Lyon until 2024, replaces on the bench of “Fogo”, Luis Castro, new coach of Al Nassr, the Saudi club of Cristiano Ronaldo. OL specifies that this appointment of the Brazilian is temporary within the carioca club pending the arrival of a new head coach.

Claudio Caçapa will return to Olympique Lyonnais once his mission is over. The Rio club is part of the Eagle Football galaxy of American businessman John Textor, who also owns Lyon, Crystal Palace (England) and RWD Molenbeek (Belgium).
