The activity of the summer camps continues “Asterix”, conceived and carried out for many years by Professor Riccardo Spurio. Among the sports in which boys and girls compete is also the Archerywith Spurio making use of the collaboration of the Ascoli archer Giuliano Scancella. After the “lessons” in Ascoli, bows, arrows and targets moved to San Benedetto, then today Tuesday 18 July to Comunanza, tomorrow to Poggio di Bretta, Thursday to Acquaviva Picena, next Tuesday to Arquata del Tronto.
Scancella, national archery instructor, has an impressive list of honors and a collection of cups, medals and trophies, all podiums conquered in the various archery federations. Last success a few days ago in Antrodoco (Rieti) where he won the second test in which the “Italian League of historic archers” (Lias) participated: a few days after the silver medal in Maltignano this success arrived, again in the “messere foggia” category historic”.
Next week (Wednesday 26 July), with its Sestiere di Porta Romana, it will be among the protagonists of the Quintana archers competition at the Campo dei Giochi in Ascoli where the traditional team challenge of three archers is scheduled. In the last two editions Scancella has both times touched the maximum score of 18, stopping at 17 points. Last year saw the Palio fade away (Porta Romana defeated in the play-off by Porta Tufilla after the two Sestieri had finished in first place with equal merit) and the “Brocca d’oro” lost in the last arrow of the final reserved for the best archers singles.
In these days Scancella is refining the preparation in view of the European Championship, i.e. the European 3D Archery Championship which takes place from 8 to 13 in Alba Iulia, Romania. The Companies for which he competes in the various categories, the Sestiere di Porta Romana and “Mondo Asterix” are ready to cheer him on.
