Ancelotti opens the door to a “change of style and system”

The coach of Real Madrid, Charles Ancelottihas left the door open for the white team to change their “style” and “system” in this new season to best adapt to the characteristics of their squad.

“It may be that this year we are going to play a different system, taking into account what we have done, the systems that we have used in recent years and that have given us great success and that we must not forget,” he reflected in a conference virtual press on the US tour of Madrid under the name Soccer Champions Tour. “But we have to try to find a new style. We are going to try it especially on the (US) tour, which is an important moment in the preseason,” he added.

The Italian coach has explained that, over the years, he has learned that “adapting to the players” is better for a coach than trying to impose a system by force. “The players have to feel comfortable in the system they play,” he pointed out.

Madrid will return to American lands this summer to play four friendlies: on July 23 against Milan at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena (California, USA), on July 26 against Manchester United at the NRG Stadium in Houston (Texas, USA), on July 29 against Barcelona at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington (Texas, USA) and on August 2 against Juventus at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando (Florida, USA).

The highlight of this tour will be the classic against Barcelona in which the Madrid team will seek revenge for the one they lost last summer in Las Vegas (USA) by 1-0. “The classic is a classic anywhere you go to play it. There is no friendly match between Madrid and Barcelona. Everyone knows that they are spectacular matches. They always have been because there is a very big rivalry,” Ancelotti argued.

“We’ve seen it last year in a fantastic environment. I think it’s going to be the same this year. It’s always like that. It’s a difficult, complicated match, but it’s clear that everyone likes to play (a classic). No there is a friendly between Barcelona and Real Madrid and there never will be,” he added.

respect to Jude Bellingham, Madrid’s star signing for this new season, Ancelotti pointed out that he is “adapting well” and that he is “working hard”. “He had a little problem during the holidays, he came with a little knee problem. But now he’s fine and he’s going to play this tour,” he said.

Lastly, the Madrid coach highlighted the growth of soccer in the US and ensured that the landing of Leo Messi in the MLS wearing the Inter Miami jersey “will help improve” the situation of this sport in the country of stars and stripes.
