The Roland Garros authorities announced the changes that will occur from 2024

The Roland Garros authorities announced some changes to the clay Grand Slam, which will be played from May 27 to June 9. The tournament director, Amélie Mauresmo, announced the installation of the retractable roof on the Suzanne Lenglen court (the second most important), which will allow matches not to be suspended.

It will close in just 15 minutes and will allow the matches to continue being played in case of rain, something that will modify the times of the contest. Furthermore, as in its previous editions, the Parisian tournament will have a single night session that will begin at 8:30 p.m., Paris time. Thus, there will be 11 night sessions from Sunday, May 26 to Wednesday, June 5.

Last, but not least, is that the tournament will increase its prize money to a total of 53 million euros, with a significant increase for the qualifying phase and for the first three rounds of the main draw.

Mauresmo also said that this year an increase in the number of daily audiences is expected, up to 15,000 spectators, who will be able to enter the tournament with a virtual ticket, previously downloaded to their cell phone. In this way we will seek to save time in lines and make everything within reach of the spectators.
