Al-Nassr is temporarily banned from registering new players

As mentioned by The Mirror and CBS, FIFA, through the voice of its spokesperson, confirmed the ban that Al-Nassr, where Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo plays, could not field its recruits until further notice. “The Al-Nassr club is currently prohibited from registering new players due to large debts. This ban will be lifted as soon as the settlement of the debt has been confirmed by the creditor,” FIFA announced.

A statement which partially contradicts the information initially revealed by the Mirror and CBS, which mentioned a suspension during three transfer periods. Especially since the amount to be paid is largely in the budget of the Saudi club, which notably recruited Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic for an estimated amount of 18 million euros and is courting Lensois Seko Fofana. And which is owned by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, which weighs 700 billion euros.

The transfer of Ahmed Musa from Leicester in question

The world body criticizes Al-Nassr for not having paid certain bonuses to the English club of Leicester, within the framework of the transfer agreement of Ahmed Musa in 2018. The Nigerian had been recruited by the Saudis for 16.5 million and his performance had activated bonuses planned during the transfer.

The Foxes filed suit in April 2021 and a court ruling in October 2021 ruled in favor of Leicester, with Al-Nassr ordered to pay €460,000 plus 5% annual interest. Which has still not been resolved.
