Zverev started well and took the first set, but the 23-year-old Argentinian showed his skills in the second set: Etcheverry balanced the score 6-3.

Zverev had to react and he did. With good tennis he brought in sets three and four, books. Zverev is thus in the semifinals in Paris for the third year in a row, it is his sixth semifinal at a grand slam tournament.

Also Ruud again in the last four

In the last four, Zverev faces gravel specialist Casper Ruud (ATP 4). The Norwegian beat his Danish neighbor Holger Rune (ATP 6) in his quarterfinals after a four-setter.

Ruud waltzed over 20-year-old Rune in the first two sets. Then Rune scribbled back one set, but Ruud finished it mercilessly in the fourth set.

The bill between Rune and Ruud was a reissue of last year’s quarterfinals. Then the Norwegian also beat the Dane in four sets. Ruud would eventually fall prey to Spanish gravel king Rafael Nadal in the final.
