Xàtiva Badminton Club Shines in Spanish Championship of Autonomous School-Age and Inclusive Selections

Three athletes from the Xàtiva Badminton Club played last week the Spanish Championship of Autonomous School-Age and Inclusive Selections, that was held in Talavera de la Reina (Castilla la Mancha). Andrea Orquín played with the Valencian U-17 team, and Feliu Terol and Martina Molina were part of the U-15 regional team. The coach of CB Xàtiva Javier Alcázar also participated. The teams from the Valencian Community played an outstanding role and were able to be among the top three classified, bordering on the podium.

The Valencian cadet team (Under-17) was fourth after losing on the last day against the Balearic Islands for a 4-1 run. The great competition from Setabense Andrea Orquín stood out, who played five games and achieved two victories, remaining very close to victory in the rest of the games. From Badminton Xàtiva, Andrea’s “very positive” feelings in the competition stand out, where “in the five games she was very solid and consistent in her game and this is good news for the final part of the season at the same time that reaffirms something that was already seen in the last TTR played in El Campello ”, they remark from the Setabense club.

For his part, the children’s team (Under-15) achieved sixth place after two very close results that did not allow him to access the next round. In the quarterfinal dispute against Castilla y León, the Valencians lost by a tight 4-3 against those who would ultimately be the champions. Subsequently, in the dispute for 5th to 8th place, the Valencians beat Navarra 4-2, but in the fight for 5th position they lost to Catalonia by another tight 4-3. On the Setabense side, the athletes Feliu Terol and Martina Molina, two of the youngest members of the team, did not play many matches, although in those they did participate they played a great role, achieving victory and leaving a pleasant impression, especially against the national team. On the other hand, this Friday June 30, CB Xàtiva plans to hold a playful day with the youngest athletes of the club, which will take place in the afternoon at the CEIP Jacinto Castañeda de Xàtiva facilities. The day will include the usual water festival, followed by a small snack for athletes assistants. With this activity, a part of the group of athletes from the Xàtiva Badminton Club take a well-deserved summer break to recover their strength and face the last stretch of the season and the new one for the Jocs Escolars of the Valencian Community.
