The 103 million euro transfer from Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid should be even more lucrative for BVB. The bonus payments were well negotiated. Four more players are expected or allowed to leave the club this summer.

Jude Bellingham (19) was impressed upon entering the Real Madrid trophy room and signing his contract with Los Blancos until 2029. “That was the biggest thing for me,” enthused the ex-Dortmunder about the celebratory moment: “The 14 Champions League titles are looking at you and you can’t wait to get your hands on one.” Henkelpott is now fighting Real’s new number 5 himself – and would also bring BVB the next rain of money.

Borussia collects 103 million euros from the Spaniards as a base fee for the jewel from England. Up to 30.9 million can be added to Bellingham’s six-year contract with Real. However, the majority of possible bonus payments are very easy for BVB to achieve. Dortmund can certainly plan with 25 million euros.

On the one hand, the distribution is based on the success of the club. If Real wins the Champions League or the Spanish championship in the next six years, BVB will benefit. A large part of the sum goes to smaller successes for the Spaniards – for example, if Real qualifies for the Champions League. In addition, Dortmund also benefits from the personal successes of the midfield strategist: The premium structure of the contract includes deployment times, but also awards that are more difficult to achieve, such as being selected for the FIFA team of the season.

Conor Gallagher is on the BVB list

The real bosses around President Florentino Pérez (76) originally set their bonus limit for Bellingham at 20 million euros, according to information from this editorial team. But BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl (43) and managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke (63) remained stubborn in the talks and negotiated the additional charges significantly upwards. Dortmund’s club bosses also see it as a negotiation success that Bellingham goes down in Spaniard history as the second most expensive newcomer behind Eden Hazard (2019 for 115 million from Chelsea) without bonus payments.

Kehl can already invest almost 70 million euros in the new BVB squad. One of the names on the list as Bellingham’s successor: Conor Gallagher (23) from Chelsea. Like Bellingham, the Briton can be used as a six, eight and ten. Despite his 45 competitive appearances, he is a candidate for sale at Chelsea. Gallagher, who still has a valid contract until 2025, would even exceed the dimensions of the dream player Edson Álvarez (25), for whom Kehl is trying to reduce the fee to Ajax Amsterdam to 33 million euros. Gallagher’s market value is 32 million euros.

Another candidate remains Felix Nmecha (22), the Wolfsburg international should cost around 15 million euros. If Kehl is his candidate for sale, he could expand the purchasing budget thanks to transfer fees and saved salaries.

These four players can leave BVB

Thorgan Hazard (30): The midfielder came from Gladbach in 2019 for 25.5 million euros and has a contract until 2024 (market value nine million euros). BVB would let him go for two million to save his salary of five million. Nico Schulz (30): The left-back came from Hoffenheim in 2019 for 25.5 million euros and has a contract until 2024. BVB would give him away for free in order to be able to save parts of his six million salary. Thomas Meunier (31): The right-back (joined free from PSG in 2020) earns up to nine million euros a year. Market value: 6.5 million euros. BVB is hoping for a fee of up to five million euros, but would have to be satisfied with less a year before the end of the contract. Giovanni Reyna (20): The tech-savvy American with a market value of 28 million euros has a contract until 2025 and is considered very injury-prone. Current salary: around three million euros. From a fee of 20 million he can go.
