Tragic Death of Former Alouettes Quarterback Dahrran Diedrick

The cause of his death is unknown.

I won two championships with Dahrran and he was a very important part of our team, said Anthony Calvillo.

The former Alouettes quarterback, now offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, played with Diedrick for eight seasons.

He was always in a good mood and got along with everyone in our locker room. He leaves us much too young, I send my best thoughts to his loved ones.

Diedrick was drafted in the third round (24th overall) in 2002 by Edmonton. Skipped in the 2003 NFL Draft, he spent the next two seasons with San Diego, Green Bay and Washington.

He won the first of his three Gray Cups in his rookie season with Edmonton in 2005.

He moved to Montreal the following season and stayed there until the end of 2012, adding two more Gray Cup rings in 2009 and 2010.

After a brief stint with Hamilton in 2013, he returned to the Alouettes for the final season of his career in 2014.

In 130 career CFL games, he had 872 yards and 6 touchdowns on 179 carries.

Dahrran was a very good friend of mine in the locker room and we kept in touch after football,” said Éric Deslauriers, executive director of football operations for the Alouettes and Diedrick’s former teammate for eight seasons in Montreal. I remember a very physical player when he had the ball, nobody could take it away from him. My thoughts go out to his loved ones and his family, my heart is very heavy at the moment.
