Tim Hortons Cafeteria will open its first branch in CDMX; We tell you when and where – El Sol de México

Starbucks will have new competition in Mexico City since Tim Hortons, the Canadian cafeteria chain, is ready to offer its desserts and drinks in CDMX.

This was announced by Juan José Gutiérrez, president of Tim Hortons de México and Shauna Hemingway, Canadian ambassador to Mexico through a video on Twitter.

Last Saturday, the Tim Hortons team was in Monterrey celebrating “Canada Day” and it was there that the official announcement was made.

“On August 31 we will be in Mexico, join us at Centura, we will be there,” said Juan José Gutiérrez.

What is Tim Hortons?

Tim Horton is a chain of coffee shops considered to be the direct competition of Starbucks, born in 1964 in Ontario, Canada.

Its creators were Tim Horton, a hockey player, and Ronald Vaughan Joyce. In 1984, they came to the US for the first time, settling in Tonawanda, New York.

Its menu offers both hot and cold coffee drinks, as well as paninis, croissants and various sandwiches baked and made to order.

How many Tim Hortons branches are there in Mexico?

The Tim Hortos firm arrived in Mexico since 2017, currently it has 56 branches throughout the country, especially in states such as Nuevo León, Coahuila, Guadalajara and Querétaro.

Most of the branches are located inside schools or shopping malls. In fact, the chain will also have a new opening on June 29 in El Pueblito, Querétaro.
