The president of the Union of Players, Joaquim Evangelista, was appointed referee of the newly created Agents Chamber of the Football Tribunal – Chamber of FIFA Agents, a body that will be responsible for settling disputes involving players/clubs and FIFA agents, under the new regulation for the activity of agents.
Joaquim Evangelista is one of the two referees appointed by FIFPro – World Players’ Union, for this body, starting functions on October 1, 2023. which, unfortunately, are more and more frequent in the world of football. In good time, FIFA took on the responsibility of re-regulating the activity of agents, which has a huge impact on the stability of relations between players and clubs. Part of this responsibility of football’s highest body is assumed through the creation of this body, which will decide on many disputes that, until now, ended up in the common courts. I would like to thank FIFPro, who, on behalf of the players worldwide, nominated me for this important task, as a vote of confidence and recognition of the work carried out in Portugal», said the leader of the Union.
Joaquim Evangelista has a degree in live, with a postgraduate degree in sports law and until 2021 he served as a referee in the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC), the body responsible for settling international labor disputes between players and clubs.
