Laura from Chiclana, reporter who has moved to Ukraine, informs us of the last hour: ”The situation right now is very complicated. One of the big problems that the population is having is that the Russian troops mined the banks of the Dnieper river and now with the flood all these mines are floating in different locations, which is a danger for the population.”
According to Laura, there are Jershon streets where the water level exceeds five meters: ”It’s incredible to see how the buildings and houses of civilians are flooded”. In addition, he confirms that the authorities assure that they have managed to evacuate 6,000 people both in the Ukrainian zone and in the occupied zone.
For now five people have drowned and another 40 have been injured by the floods. There are already around 20,000 homes that those affected have lost.
“Right now we are at an evacuation point, here what the rescuers, the police and the military do is prepare the boats to be able to go out and rescue the civilians who are trapped in the buildings. Once they arrive here with the civilians, they are given assistance and many have to be taken to the hospital,” Laura de Chiclana explains about the terrible situation.
Another problem highlighted by the reporter is that Ukrainians are afraid that diseases may appear because the cemeteries have been flooded and there are thousands of dead animals, in addition, he explains that the lack of drinking water is noticeable.
