Roland-Garros: mental strength, “flexibility of play”, sense of detail… Why is Djokovic so hard to beat?

Let’s talk numbers first: Novak Djokovic is playing this Sunday, June 11 in the Roland-Garros final his 1052nd match on the ATP circuit, which he has been attending for exactly twenty years. He only lost 210, which is an 81% winning percentage. Of this total, he lost 52 against Roger Federer (23) or Rafael Nadal (29). The Serb, already double winner of Roland-Garros (2016, 2021), is preparing to play his 92nd match on Parisian soil, for only 16 defeats in 19 appearances.
