Moors becomes the new coach at basketball runners-up Bonn

Roel Moors is the new coach of the German basketball runners-up Telekom Baskets Bonn. The 44-year-old Belgian signed a contract until 2025, as announced by Bonn on Monday. Moors coached Bundesliga rivals BG Göttingen for three years and led the Lower Saxony team to the playoff quarterfinals last season. He then left the Göttingers at his own request.
At Telekom Baskets he will succeed successful coach Tuomas Iisalo. The 40-year-old Finn took over the team for the 2021/22 season. Under his direction, Bonn won the Champions League title last season and reached the championship finals. But then ratiopharm Ulm prevailed there.
For Moors it is already the third coaching station in the Bundesliga, he has also worked in Bamberg. He is a good recruiter and can plan for the long term, which is very important for us. He also brings a lot of European and BBL experience, said Baskets sports director Savo Milovic. Moors said the first task now is to put together a competitive team that our passionate fans can identify with.
