“For me it was certainly a particular season for many reasons: first because I had never arrived in a championship that started four months ago, with all the situations both of a technical and psychological nature, but I can tell you that at the same time it was a new situation where I had to bring out all my experience to recover a team that was in great difficulty at the end of the first leg. But I immediately found some guys who made themselves available, facilitating the work we faced together on a daily basis. Despite the nine consecutive victories there have been problems that each team has during the season. But when we missed a few games, see the second of the playoffs with CUS Catania or the third of the playoffs again with Castanea, we found the strength and compactness to achieve a goal that was very distant when I arrived “.
What were the highlights of the season that just ended?
“The highlights but also the most difficult were the eight games of the playoffs, both due to some injuries and because some players didn’t arrive in great form in the decisive games”.
Your sporting journey with the Messina Basket School continues, with what objectives?
“After 5 years of collaboration, I finally managed to give the club and the wonderful fans this longed-for promotion that had escaped us at our last breath for three years. Not knowing the league yet, I can’t talk about goals, but the important thing is to build a young team. With the managers we dived into the market trying to choose players who are within our reach, with so much talent that can reflect my way of seeing basketball and at the same time entertain our fans who I would like to see as many as they have been during the playoffs”.
Interregional B will be a championship to be discovered with many derbies. What do you expect from a technical point of view?
“Being a new championship, it’s too early to make judgments from a technical point of view. Both for all the derbies that will take place and for the coat of arms of many clubs, I think it will be a very popular championship both from the media point of view and as a presence in the various sports halls “.
