Nemecz in Munich after a mishap in 47th place

Lukas Nemecz finished the two million dollar World Tour tournament in Munich in 47th place. The 33-year-old Styrian played a round of 73 on Sunday and improved by three places with a total of 288 strokes (par).

Victory at the Munich-Eichenried golf club, along with $340,000 in prize money, went to the South African Thriston Lawrence (275 or 13 under par), who still intercepted the Dutchman Joost Luiten (12 under par) in the final.

Ball jumps from hole flag into the water

Nemecz made a rare mishap on his final lap. At the 16th hole he hit the hole flag from 55 meters, but from there the ball bounced into the water. “It was over at that moment. You can’t cope with something like that, especially at the back of the 69th hole in a strenuous tournament,” said the Austrian, who then produced a double bogey.

“Very bitter, because if I don’t hit the pin, it’s more or less a birdie,” said Nemecz, who had a pin hit on the first hole, which resulted in a bogey. “The golf course wasn’t on my side.”
