Nancy administratively relegated to National 3

Nancy finished this season 13th out of 18 in National (Division 3), in a season with six runs. The Chardon club still hoped to benefit from potential administrative relegation from National clubs that finished higher in the standings.

Already sportingly relegated to National 2, Nancy has been administratively downgraded to National 3 by the National Management Control Department (DNCG), the Lorraine club announced on Tuesday.

«AS Nancy-Lorraine was interviewed today by the DNCG to present its provisional budget for the 2023/2024 season, which was discussed and accepted as is. However, after examining the file and finding certain missing financial guarantees, the Commission decided to downgrade the club to National 3 (division 5, editor’s note)“Wrote the club in a press release published on its website.

3 relegations in 1 year

Nancy finished this season 13th out of 18 in National (Division 3), in a season with six runs. The Chardon club still hoped to benefit from potential administrative relegations of National clubs having finished higher in the standings to stay in National and thus narrowly retain their professional status.

«ASNL will appeal this decision and will be heard again in a few days, and will do its utmost to provide the additional information and documents necessary to convince the Commission“, adds the ASNL in its press release.

Nancy was still playing in Ligue 2 during the 2021/2022 season, finishing in 20th and last place. The descent to N3 therefore marks the third relegation in just over a year for Michel Platini’s training club, which was still playing in a European Cup 15 years ago.
