Karel Geraerts is no longer the trainer of Union. It is unclear what is at the root of the separation between the former professional footballer and the Brussels club.
The 41-year-old Limburger joined the people of Brussels in July 2019, as an assistant. First from Thomas Christiansen, then under Felice Mazzu. Three years later, Geraerts was promoted to the position of T1, resulting in a successful European campaign (a quarter final in the Europa League) and third place in the league.
On Tuesday everything would have been open between the two parties, even a contract extension. According to our sources, there is also nothing concrete with other clubs. But Geraerts and Union would not have gotten out, resulting in a departure.
