Kyrie Irving and Dallas Mavericks in Negotiations for Contract Renewal: The Importance of Years and Guaranteed Money

It is expected that Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks will negotiate his renewal soon, and if it comes to fruition, everything will depend on the years and guaranteed money that they offer him, reported journalist Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN.

The Mavs will have the upper hand, since the market for Irving is very limited given the new collective agreement and great conflict history that the point guard has behind him. With Brooklyn he agreed in 2019 to a contract for 4 years and 141 million dollars, and it is expected that the Mavs can sign him for an additional 5 and around 200 million.

“The market for Irving, let’s say those places where he can leave Dallas, that make sense, that are available…Let’s just say it’s extremely limited,” Woj acknowledged. “Maybe it’s almost nil. I think the biggest expectations are for him to return to Dallas next season. The question will be: With how many years of contract? I don’t think money is a problem, but rather the guaranteed years they offer you. I think that’s where the real negotiation is going to be between Irving and the Mavericks,” he explained.

“If you want to maximize your money, the right place is definitely Dallas,” he said.

Irving arrived transferred in the last winter market, and since his arrival the Texan franchise obtained figures of 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in 38.2 minutes per day.
