Julien Carraggi Clinches Victory in Men’s Badminton Group Stage at European Games

Already qualified for the round of 16, Julien Carraggi won his third and last match in Group H of the men’s badminton tournament at the European Games, which serve as the framework for the European Championships, on Wednesday in Tarnow in Poland.

Carraggi, 23, won in straight sets (21-18, 21-17) against the Czech Jan Louda (BWF 55), also qualified for the round of 16. The meeting lasted 41 minutes.

The Brussels, 71st in the world, had already won his first two group matches against the Austrian Luka Wraber (BWF 97) 21-11, 21-11, then against the German Kai Schäfer (BWF 70) 21-19, 18 -21, 21-12, validating his ticket for the round of 16.

On Wednesday at 3:00 p.m., Lianne Tan, 45th in the world, will also play her last Group F match in the women’s tournament against Finland’s Nella Nyqvest (BWF 407) to try to qualify for the round of 16.

The first two of each group will go to the 8th finals.

Tarnow’s results are taken into account for the ranking for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
