José Mourinho Resigns From UEFA Football Board After Suspension

José Mourinho announced his resignation as a member of the UEFA Football Board, a decision taken after the sanction applied by the body to the Portuguese coach, who was suspended for four games due to incorrect behavior towards the referee Anthony Taylor, in the final of the Europa League, in Budapest against Sevilla.

Mourinho’s decision was communicated via letter to Croatian Zvonimir Boban, UEFA’s head of football.

“As I thank you for inviting me to become a member of the UEFA Football Board, I regret to inform you that, with immediate effect, I will be withdrawing my membership in this group. The principles I fully believed in when I joined the group no longer exist and I feel obliged to make this decision. I kindly request that you also communicate my decision to the President Mr. Aleksander Ceferin», reads the document signed by the coach of the Romans.

Mourinho took over in April and the UEFA Football Board brings together a wide range of former players and coaches, including Roberto Martínez, to discuss the laws of the game, refereeing and the calendar.
