Jets optimistic after Aaron Rodgers calf injury

Head coach Robert Saleh expects his new quarterback to return to practice starting this Friday, or next Monday at the latest.

FLORHAM PARK — Aaron Rodgers I could return to full training with the New York Jets on Friday, after injuring his right calf last week.

The 39-year-old quarterback, acquired last month in a trade with the Green Bay Packerswas injured while participating in fitness exercises last Thursday. Rodgers he minimized the injury at the time, but hasn’t been able to fully participate in training since.

Rodgers he wore a calf sleeve throughout training and limited work, as he had anticipated Saleh. He started the session on a stationary bike and threw a few passes to the side of the field, including some good spirals of 40-plus yards, but most of the time he was a bystander.

He was continually conversing with the other quarterbacks, including Zach Wilsonwho has been working with the starting offense. Rodgers he also took some receivers to the side after a drill to give them some notes.

“I’ve been around some very good quarterbacks,” the left tackle said. Duane Brownwho is preparing for his sixteenth season on the NFL. “The mastery he has of everything is different.”

Rodgers will frequently take notes in meetings and quiz teammates to make sure they understand the nuances of the offense, designed by the coordinator Nathaniel Hackettwho had the same role in Green Bay during the last two seasons of the quarterback who won awards for NFL Most Valuable Player for the 2020 and 2021 campaigns.
