At Union they were undoubtedly happy when they heard that Ronny Deila will be the new trainer of Club Brugge. Karel Geraerts was, just like the Norwegian, on the blue-black wish list.

But Geraerts may still threaten to leave. Another Belgian top club has according to The last hour made a top priority of the Union coach. Standard is reportedly looking at the possibility of making an attempt at the Belgian top trainer.

Despite the fact that Standard is currently clearly doing less well that Union and not European action, it does not seem impossible that Geraerts would take the step. In his playing career he came into action 113 times for the people of Liège and has a good relationship with the supporters.

If Geraerts does not bite, Standard already has one trainer that they can secure. Vince Euvrard – who obtained his PhD with RWDM – has, according to The last hour self offered on Sclessin. Undoubtedly to be continued…

Maar Geraerts dreigt mogelijk toch nog te vertrekken. Een ander Belgische topclub heeft volgens La Dernière Heure een topprioriteit van de Union-coach gemaakt. Standard bekijkt naar verluidt de mogelijkheid om een poging te wagen bij de Belgische toptrainer.

Ondanks het feit dat Standard het momenteel duidelijk minder goed doet dat Union én niet Europees in actie komt, lijkt het niet onmogelijk dat Geraerts de stap toch zou zetten. Hij kwam in zijn spelerscarrière namelijk 113 keer in actie voor de Luikenaars en heeft een goede band met de aanhang.
