The difference to when he took office: “There are now more doctors and more helpers at the bedside. The club has become more down-to-earth, honest and humble. Hertha is in the process of reinventing itself. (…) But it’s also true: Hertha is not over the hill yet.”

Despite all the turbulence, Bernstein said he “didn’t even think” about throwing it. The club is also financially not doomed to immediate resurgence. “We want to achieve a balanced operating result in the medium term by 2025/26. It will be a tough fight until then,” emphasized Bernstein.

Hertha is currently “putting on the brakes. A paradigm shift is taking place here, which must translate into a cultural change.” Bernstein promised: “We now have fixed budget limits that we will not exceed – no matter what happens.”
