Herry IP Opens Voice About Opportunity for Kevin/Marcus to be Split

The head coach of the PBSI national men’s doubles coach Herry Iman Pierngadi answer the question about the possibility of splitting Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon.

Kevin/Marcus is one of Indonesia’s backbones in the men’s doubles sector. The two of them have been united since 2015. After that the couple who have the nickname Minions routinely present titles to Merah Putih.

In recent times, there have been rumors about the split between Kevin/Marcus due to several factors, both technical and non-technical.

“Yes, it’s very possible, can it be split or not. Because it has to be the commitment of the two players involved. For example, I want to [nyuruh] separate but they don’t want to, they can’t either. So the coach and the players must communicate first,” said Herry.

Herry explained that discussions between players and coaches had resulted in the decision to withdraw from the 2023 Indonesia Open. The coach, who has joined PBSI since 1993, admitted that he had not yet discussed the separation of Kevin/Marcus. The new chat was limited to discussing the super 1000 level tournament.

Regarding the communication problem between Kevin and Marcus, which was raised as a trigger for the problem of the two’s achievements on the field, Herry also gave his views.

“Yes, it’s just normal, really, if the name is… they are, right, not a new couple, it’s been a while, maybe the community see it like that. It’s only natural to have questions like that, so far it’s been fine, there’s no problem to worry too much about,” said Herry.

Continuing this answer, Herry explained that everything would be discussed further after the 2023 Indonesia Open.

Herry also admitted that he did not know who would be Kevin’s or Marcus’ partner if it was true that the former world number one pairs were broken up.
