Grégoire Barrère wins against Nicolás Jarry and advances to the quarter-finals at Eastbourne

Grégoire Barrère (n°57) continues at Eastbourne. After beating the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (n°45), the Frenchman disposed Wednesday of Nicolás Jarry (n°28) in the second round (6-3, 4-6, 6-4). He will face in the quarter-finals Miomir Kecmanovic (n°41), who beat Alexander Vukic (7-6, 6-4).

The match started perfectly for the 29-year-old Ile-de-France player. Despite a conceded break from the start, Barrère reacted by twice taking the face-off from his opponent to take the advantage. He then managed his lead to take the first moto.

Third victory on grass

Despite several break points, the second set went less well for the Frenchman, who was broken in the final game and was forced to play a third set. Stronger than his opponent, he quickly raced ahead to win on his first match point.

This victory is the third on grass this season for Barrere. After an initial victory against Oscar Otte in Stuttgart, he lost to Lorenzo Musetti in the process, then lost straight away in Halle against Stefanos Tsitsipas, even if he had taken the fifth player in the world to the tie-break of the third set.
