Etcheverry, Cerúndolo and Olivieri seek the round of 16

The three Argentine tennis players who remain in the individual table of Roland Garros they face complicated commitments this Saturday to try to reach the round of 16 of the Parisian Grand Slam.

Cerúndulo, the best-placed Argentine in the world ranking (23rd place), will face the American Taylor Fritz (seed number 8), in an unprecedented match so far (9:30 a.m., Argentine time).

It could be even more difficult for Olivieri, 231 on the ATP and one of the three tennis players who came out of the qualifying phase, who will face the Danish Holger Rune (seed number six), in the first duel between them.

Despite the huge difference in the ranking, Olivieri, who is in a cloud after qualifying and overcoming the first two rounds, showed yesterday to the press his conviction that “I can do it”, although he acknowledged that it will be “very difficult”. and that he will have to “play very well”.

He also acknowledged that he will have to control his emotions, which in his opinion “will be very difficult to control”, as it is the first time that he has reached such a high level in an important tournament.

As for Etcheverry, he will face Croatian Borna Coric, seed number 15 and winner of another Argentine, Pedro Cachín, in the second round.

Coric reminded the press that the Argentine beat him “very, very easily” last year in the Perugia tournament and that this year “he is playing very well.”

Argentina has been the country that placed the most tennis players in the third round of the men’s draw of this edition of Roland Garros, but the chances of continuing in the competition will be decided in these three duels.
