Elfrink: “I think Feyenoord will surprise everyone…

Rik Elfrink thinks that PSV has missed it this year. During the AD football podcast, the club watcher of the Eindhoven daily newspaper says that PSV probably did not expect such competition from Feyenoord.

“It should have happened for PSV this year. But I think Feyenoord surprised them. I also think everyone. Feyenoord was just a very good and excellent champion this year,” concludes Elfrink. He adds that the goal for PSV prior to the season was to get over Ajax. “And they succeeded. They made it to the Champions League and finished above Ajax, while they also won the cup. But Feyenoord of course ran off with the main dish.”

Based on Moneyball’s statistics, PSV should be much higher. Elfrink knows where it went wrong. “The points you drop against the numbers sixteen, seventeen and eighteen, that was of course the strength under Schmidt, that it went well. The top players went well under Ruud van Nistelrooij. But in the end it comes down to one thing: winning matches. ”
