Dominican Judo Team Wins Silver at Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador

San Salvador. The mixed judo team won the silver medal after losing in the final against the representation of Cuba in the final day of the judo tournament that concluded this Tuesday at the Coliseum of the University of El Salvador as part of the Central American and Caribbean Games that are held here.

With the silver medal, the Dominican judo delegation won a total of nine medals, including four silver and five bronze, but could not surpass the performance of Barranquilla 2018, where the judokas had a memorable harvest with three gold medals , three silver and six bronze.

The Dominican representation prevailed against the Nicaraguan delegation in the quarterfinals, and against Colombia in the semifinal, only to lose in the final to the powerful Cuban team.

At the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, held in 2018, the judo team won the bronze medal.

The Dominican Republic will continue this Wednesday in the fifth day of the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023.
