DFB Cup: Eintracht President Fischer makes fun of Leipzig Sports

When he speaks, everyone is hot as frying fat afterwards…

Eintracht President Peter Fischer (67) heated up the fans five hours before the cup cracker on Saturday evening (8 p.m.) against RB Leipzig. In front of around 10,000 Frankfurt supporters, he yelled on Breitscheidplatz: “This city is Frankfurt, this city is in your hands and it will remain in your hands.” The club expects 60,000 fans in Berlin and 40,000 in the stadium. It should be a real “home game”.

Fischer believes that the people of Leipzig are scared and anxious: “Even when they come in, our opponents have brown trousers.”

Fischer adds energetically: “It doesn’t matter whether they’re better or how many games they’ve won. Neither of us scores a goal or saves a ball today. But we can do it together. We’re going to make the stadium hell any second. We will push our team with your energy. We’ll step on the gas in this stadium, you’ll all be hoarse and exhausted afterwards – like our team. The team should feel from the first second that we want to win. I rely on you.”

Fischer’s 20-minute speech is repeatedly interrupted by loud chants (“Peter gives an’ out”). A special moment on stage for the President as he is stepping down from office in early 2024.

Fischer: “I just spoke briefly to my friend Axel Hellmann. I can say one thing: you won’t get rid of me! I will always be there for you at big games. In a different role. I will forward the association as honorary president if you elect me. You are my family, I am your family.”

The Eintracht legend definitely wants to say goodbye with a title.

Fischer afterwards: “I will say to the players again today: ‘This is the last trophy that I can experience with you. So you have to do something for me today.'”
