Five games were scheduled for Saturday in the first baseball league. Only teams that currently have a play-off place were able to achieve success.

In the north, the Untouchables Paderborn beat the Cologne Cardinals 7-2 and 6-5. While Paderborn were able to defend an early lead until the end in the first game, they conceded the equalizer in game two in the seventh inning. But in the extra inning, player-coach Matt Kemp’s team kept their nerve and won via walk-off. The U’s returned to winning ways after surprising defeats at home to the Dohren Wild Farmers a week ago.

Paderborn is in second place in the table at least until Saturday. But the Hamburg Stealers could overtake again on Sunday with another win against the Berlin Flamingos. On Saturday they won the pitcher duel 2-0. Austin Hassani prevailed on the mound against Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez, who was let down by his defense on both runs by the Hamburg team.

In the south, game two of the two-game series between the Stuttgart Reds and the Hünstetten Storm was on the program in the TVC Ballpark. The Reds prevailed 7-2 and consolidated fourth place in the table. A five-run rally made the preliminary decision in the fourth period. Stuttgart won 5:3 on Friday evening. The Mainz Athletics celebrated a late comeback win in game one of their series at the Mannheim Tornados on Saturday afternoon. In the ninth inning they caught up from a 7-3 deficit and won 9-8.

On Sunday, the game day will be completed with the games between the Mannheim Tornados and Mainz Athletics, Hamburg Stealers and Berlin Flamingos as well as Munich-Haar Disciples and Guggenberger Legionnaires Regensburg.
