Carlos Alcaraz continues to add stars on the ATP Tour. On the prestigious Queen’s turf, he lifted his first cup on the surface, returned to No. 1 in the world and became, at the age of 20, the youngest tournament champion of the century. The most recent had been Lleyton Hewitt at the age of 19 in the 2000 edition.

He arrived in London after passing through Roland Garros ready to get rid of the stigma of his lack of favoritism on the pitch. Thus, he headed into the Queen’s ATP 500 with victories over Arthur Rinderknech, Jiri Lehecka, Grigor Dimitrov, Sebastian Korda and Álex de Minaur. He had never trodden a definition on the surface before but things changed. At the conclusion of the tournament he became strong against the Australian and signed the consecration by 6-4 and 6-4 in one hour and 39 minutes of activity.

A kind of sacred debut in one of the most renowned events on the tour in the run-up to the third most important date of the year: Wimbledon. There he will arrive as No. 1 in the world and the top seed in the draw for the second consecutive time after his appearance at the French Open.

The learning of the defeat against Novak Djokovic in the semifinals in Paris will be a burden that he will treasure from now on, taking into account that, despite the seed number, the great rival to beat will be Belgrade. The Serbian will land in the All England with an undefeated record of 14 Grand Slam matches in 2023 and 28 at Wimbledon, remembering that he has not lost there since 2017 against the now retired Tomas Berdych. Will the Murcian be able to snatch his streaks and the possibility of the calendar Grand Slam?
