Canha, Carrasco lead Mets to 4-1 win over struggling Phillies | Sports

NEW YORK (AP) — Mark Canha homered and drove in four runs to lead Carlos Carrasco and the New York Mets to a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.

Carrasco (2-2) pitched six effective innings to win his second straight start. Canha hit a two-run homer in the third and a two-run single with two out in the fourth off Aaron Nola (4-4).

Panama’s Edmundo Sosa homered off Carrasco but Philadelphia suffered its third straight loss and matched its worst record of the season, five games under .500.

The reigning National League champions went 5-14 last season against the Mets, and have lost the first two games against their division rivals this year, scoring just one run in two nights.

Sosa batted ninth and replaced Alec Bohm, the team leader with 37 RBIs, at third base, who sat out with a sore thigh.

Adam Ottavino got two outs and David Robertson earned his 10th save in 11 chances. Carrasco allowed six hits and a walk, in addition to getting four strikeouts.

For the Phillies, the Panamanian Sosa 4-1 with one scored and one produced.

For the Mets, Puerto Ricans Francisco Lindor 4-0, Tomás Nido 3-1. The Dominican Starling Marte 3-0.
