At the Singapore Open, Indonesian Jonatan Christie (BWF 6) lost to Chinese YQ Shi BWF 9) in straight sets 21/19, 21/12.
Shi won in two sets 21/19, 21/12 without much difficulty. The first set was however very tight but once the Chinese passed in front, the Indonesian never managed to regain the upper hand during the match, until taking a correction in the second set 21/12.
The Chinese Shi YQ therefore qualifies for the 1/8 finals and will face his compatriot Lu GZ
