PSSI dan German Football League (DFL) signed cooperation regarding four points. Here are four points of a mutually beneficial relationship.

PSSI’s collaboration with DFL was established in Frankfurt, Germany on Wednesday (7/6). PSSI general chairman Erick Thohir who signed the cooperation for the development of Indonesian football.

As released by PSSI, there are two main areas that are the focus of cooperation, namely advancing technical capacity and sports expertise and advancing the structure of leagues and clubs in Indonesia.

Erick explained, two other things that were the aim of this collaboration were increasing the level of sport and the technical aspects of Indonesian football, as well as triggering an increase in the quality of the game and competitiveness.

“So important aspects such as competition organization, stadium management, fan safety and licensing will be carried out with professionalism,” said Erick.

Erick explained that PSSI’s efforts to collaborate with Germany, after previously with Japan, were none other than to improve Indonesian football. The initial target was to be the best in ASEAN.

“This effort is in line with our mission to elevate the Indonesian football league, which is expected to become the main football competition in Southeast Asia,” Erick said in a release.

Previously, Erick also mentioned that he would be looking for a Technical Director from Germany. It’s just not known whether the figure was submitted to the DFL or with a Bundesliga club.

While in Germany, Erick visited two top clubs. First Eintracht Frankfurt and second Borussia Dortmund. Erick saw firsthand how the German football club was managed.

It’s no secret either that the Bundesliga is known as the home of Asian players in Europe in the last 20 years. Many players from Japan and South Korea started their careers in the Bundesliga.

This cooperation is at least a kind of opening door for Indonesia to supply its young players to Germany. Of course only high quality and dedicated players are of interest to German clubs.

Will that hope come true? PSSI is paving the way by improving important aspects of domestic competition so that its human resources can be worthy of competition in Germany.
