Young retiree, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga returns to Roland-Garros as a consultant

Last year, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga lived an intense emotion on the Central of Roland-Garros. On May 24, 2022, after a defeat against the Norwegian Casper Ruud, the champion put an end to his career. A ceremony was organized after the meeting with his relatives and his former Davis Cup teammates to pay tribute to him.

A year later, Manceau will be back at Porte d’Auteuil but in a new role. The semi-finalist of the 2013 edition of the Parisian Grand Slam has agreed to be a consultant for Amazon Prime Video. He joins the team of platform specialists made up of Marion Bartoli, Arnaud Clément, Guy Forget, Tatiana Golovin, Pauline Parmentier and Fabrice Santoro and will bring his expertise throughout the tournament. The young retiree will take his first steps in this profession and thus add a new string to his bow.

He does not hide his impatience. “Can’t wait to return to service at Roland-Garros as a Prime Video consultant, one year after this unforgettable moment shared with you”, he wrote in a message on his Instagram account. When he spoke about his post-career projects, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga first mentioned the possibility of becoming a coach. In the meantime, he will be able to share his passion with viewers of Prime Video which, since 2022, has obtained part of the rights to the Parisian Grand Slam.

If France Télévisions broadcasts most of the event, the platform offers all the matches of the Simonne-Matthieu court, the ten evening sessions of the Philippe Chatrier court but also the semi-finals and finals ladies, gentlemen in singles and in duplicate. Clémentine Sarlat will kick off the day at 10:45 a.m. with the opening show to be held in the alleys of Roland-Garros. Thibault Le Rol will launch the evening session from the Prime Video studio on Center Court. He will analyze the day’s meetings with the consultants. A debrief program, offered after the evening match, will conclude the day.
