Vuelta Femenina 2023: encore for Marianne Vos in the sprint! Norsgaard beat, eighth Silvia Persico

Marianne Vos it doesn’t fly! The Dutchman of Jumbo-Visma wins the fourth stage of the Women’s Tour 2023 to the sprint in Guadalajara in the fraction that started from Cuenca. The Dutch phenomenon had some difficulty holding up uphill, held on and then once again baptized all in the sprint: 248 victories in his career.

Stage which is initially animated by the attacks of Eukene Larrarte (Bizkaia Durango), Idoia Eraso (Laboral Kutxa Euskadi Foundation) and Nora Jencusova (Bepink). Around 100 kilometers from the conclusion there are also several falls in group: they finish the shirt on the ground Roja Marianne Vos and Silvia Zanardi. The blue bears the signs of the fall and trudges for the rest of the stage, often approaching the ambulance. In trouble too Charlotte Koolthe winner of the second stage: the Dutchman breaks away from the group, goes into a black crisis and retires.

Attackers who are resumed about 50 kilometers from the finish and before the climb of the Alto de Horche there are many attempts in the group, but none that is successful. At the flying finish line in Tendilla, Marianne Vos moved into third position to take two seconds of bonuses and consolidate her position as leader.

On the third category GPM of the Alto de Horche the Movistar makes a great forcing for Annemiek Van Vleuten: there is selection in the platoon, but the best ones remain in the lead, with one Demi Vollering particularly brilliant. Immediately after the climb they try to attack Van Vleuten and Vollering, followed by Lippert, but this trio fails to make the difference. Lippert and Vollering again attempt a descent downhill, but are rejected.

In the last kilometer he tries to attack Marlen Reusser, but Marianne Vos remains covered up to the last 300 meters and launches a lethal sprint that allows her to do an encore after yesterday’s success and to consolidate the red jersey. Second position for an excellent one Emma Norsgaardwhile it is third Blanka Vas. Good eighth position for Silvia Persian.
