Vaccination rules relaxed: Djokovic can participate in US Open

That means that the unvaccinated number 1 in the world will be welcome in New York at the end of August for the grand slam tournament there.

The Serbian missed the US Open last year because of his refusal to get vaccinated. He was expelled from Australia at the beginning of the year for the same reason after a number of lawsuits just before the start of the Australian Open.

This spring, Djokovic was eager to compete in the Indian Wells and Miami masters tournaments and asked for a special exemption, but the government refused to allow him.
