Julian Nagelsmann brought him to RB Leipzig in 2020 to strengthen his coaching team at the time. Dino Toppmöller switched to the Bundesliga three years ago as head coach at F91 Dudelange, a Luxembourg first division team. Now, after the 35-year-old left FC Bayern, according to kicker information, Toppmöller has also decided to take the next step and take on a position as head coach of a larger club.

This idea had matured in him since the beginning of the year. Offers came in, including from a Bundesliga club, which he turned down. There were already lucrative opportunities to work as a head coach last year, but Toppmöller turned them down. Also because he enjoyed the project with Nagelsmann in Munich.

A continuation of the cooperation with Nagelsmann was also conceivable after working for the German record champions, where his contract runs until 2024. But nothing will come of it, because Toppmöller’s decision has now been made. A new adventure is to begin for the 42-year-old in the summer.

Emotional connection to unity

Eintracht Frankfurt has expressed an interest and initial talks have already been held. But the Hessians have competition from abroad. It’s no secret that he has an emotional connection to Eintracht, as he himself played for the SBU and also rose with the Frankfurt team in 2002/03. He could also follow in the footsteps of his father, Klaus Toppmöller, who coached Eintracht in the 1993/94 season.
