Emma Raducanu posts a picture from the hospital with both wrists and her right ankle in plaster.

London – In 2021, the British Emma Raducanu was still the new star in women’s tennis. She was the first ever qualifier to win the prestigious US Open. Since Serena Williams, who recently announced her pregnancy, ended her career at the same time, the then 18-year-old was chosen to fill the tennis icon’s vacuum in the future. Unfortunately everything turned out differently. The success in the USA is Raducanu’s only Grand Slam victory so far. The young Brit is haunted by bad luck with injuries. On her social media channels she has now published a picture from the hospital that clearly illustrates her story of suffering.

Emma Raducanu had to undergo three surgeries in a short space of time

Emma Raducanu is shown in the picture almost completely in a cast. In addition to her two wrists, her right ankle is also encased in plaster. The tennis player writes about the post “3/3”. Because within just two weeks, the British woman had to be operated on three times.

At the beginning of May, Raducanu had to go under the knife because of her left wrist. The operation on his right wrist followed shortly thereafter. “The last ten months have not been easy for me. I was dealing with recurring problems in both wrists. I tried my best to deal with the pain and keep playing. But unfortunately that’s not enough,” wrote the long-suffering athlete under a photo that shows her with her bandaged arm.

Emma Raducanu’s exact time off after surgery unclear

Despite the three operations, a clear smile can be seen on Emma Raducanu’s face in the current photo. It is currently not known how long the young tennis player will be out. The 20-year-old wrote that she would be out “for the next few months,” but didn’t give any specific dates.

So she will definitely miss the important tournaments in Wimbledon and the French Open in Paris. Most recently, Raducanu, who was still 10th in the world rankings in July 2022, also flew out of the top 100 for women. It could be a long time before she regains her level from days gone by. (jsk)
