“There is never an encouraging defeat”, regrets Pélissier

The Auxerrois coach delivers his analysis after the defeat of his players in Marseille this Sunday, during the 33rd day of the French championship.

Christophe Pélissier (Auxerre coach, beaten 2-1 in Marseille ) : «There is both disappointment, because there is never an encouraging defeat, but also pride in what the boys have done. We had to prepare with a lot of injuries. I’m disappointed for them, even if we suffered the onslaught of Marseille. It’s hard not to be rewarded in accounting terms but we have to keep this state of mind for the last five games. The result is logical. It’s not the Marseille goals that make me moan, it’s the two 2-0 situations we have. Afterwards, in the storm, we lacked lucidity. But the guys gave everything against the second in the championship, at home. If we had taken points, it would not have been undeserved.

You can be proud of this team when you support AJA. Energy, we have it. It’s only our second loss in the last 12 games. But the championship started at the beginning of August and there are points to make up for. We are in the fight with three other teams (Strasbourg, Nantes and Brest, editor’s note). We will have to make matches with the same consistency and above all score points.(comments collected during a press conference)
